Clear and upfront

Fees & insurance

Money questions are normal, and you deserve straight answers before you start. Here’s how fees work, and how to find out whether your insurance can help.

How it works

Start free. Know the cost before you commit.

1

Free consultation

Your first conversation costs nothing and comes with no obligation. We talk about what you need and which service fits.

2

A clear quote

Before anything begins, you get the fee for your service in writing, including what’s included. No surprise charges.

3

Receipts for your claim

You receive an official receipt from a Registered Social Worker, ready to submit to your insurance or Health Spending Account.

Insurance

Could your plan help pay?

Many workplace extended health plans and Health Spending Accounts include services from a Registered Social Worker (RSW). Kamla A. Williams, MA, RSW is a Registered Social Worker in Nova Scotia.

Every plan is different. Some cover counselling but not assessments or coaching, some have a yearly limit, and some need a doctor’s referral. The quickest way to know is to ask your insurer before you book.

Questions to ask your insurer

  • Does my plan cover a Registered Social Worker?
  • Is an ADHD or mental health assessment covered, or only counselling sessions?
  • How much is covered per visit, and per year?
  • Do I need a referral from a doctor or nurse practitioner?
  • Do I have a Health Spending Account I could use instead?
  • How do I submit a receipt, and how long does it take?

Tip: the phone number or app for your plan is usually on your benefits card.

Questions

Money questions

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. There’s no charge and no obligation. It’s a chance to ask questions and see whether we’re a good fit.

Why don’t you list one price for everything?

Needs are different. An adult assessment, a few coaching sessions and a staff workshop are very different pieces of work. We’d rather give you an accurate quote for what you actually need than a number that doesn’t fit. Ask us any time and we’ll tell you our current rates.

Will my insurance cover an ADHD assessment?

It depends on your plan. Some plans cover services from a Registered Social Worker, including assessments, while others only cover counselling sessions. Use the questions above to check with your insurer before you book.

Can my employer or school pay?

Often, yes. Some employers pay for assessments, coaching or training as part of workplace accommodations or professional development. We can provide an invoice made out to your organization.

Do you charge for using the free tools?

No. The self-check, DTC quick-check, focus timer and planner are free for everyone.
