Meet the founder

Kamla A. Williams, MA, RSW

Kamla is a Registered Social Worker, researcher, author, poet and neurodiversity interventionist. She practises as a Primary Health Care and Chronic Disease Management Social Worker with Nova Scotia Health, where she provides individual and family counselling and psychotherapy, leads peer support groups, and develops education and health programs. She brings more than 11,000 clinical hours of experience, grounded in trauma-informed and solution-focused practice.

Her experience also includes child protection work with Nova Scotia’s Department of Community Services and, in Jamaica, serving as Head of the Psychosocial Department as a Medical Social Worker with the Ministry of Health, where she supported individuals and families living with HIV and trained and supervised staff. She holds a Master of Social Work from Dalhousie University, a Master of Arts in Child and Youth Study from Mount Saint Vincent University, and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Northern Caribbean University.

Her research explores the experiences of neurodivergent and ADHD social workers in Canada, including professional identity, masking, belonging and the structural barriers people face at work. That work shapes everything Diversity Included does.

Kamla founded Diversity Included and hosts the Diversity Included podcast. Her writing blends research, psychology, storytelling and practical guidance, because people do their best when they feel understood.

What guides our work

Our values

1

Difference, not deficit

We work from the neurodiversity paradigm: different minds are a natural part of human variation, with real strengths and real needs.

2

Change the system, not the person

Lasting inclusion comes from flexible, anti-ableist environments, not from asking people to mask or “try harder.”

3

Relationships first

Empathy, trust and lived experience are forms of knowledge. We listen before we recommend.

4

Culture and context matter

Guided by decolonial and critical disability perspectives, we honour each person’s culture, identity and story.

Let’s work together.

For yourself, your family, your classroom or your team. It starts with a free conversation.
